The Typical Sentencing For An Armed Robbery

The laws which govern armed robbery may vary in each jurisdiction. However, in most cases, the sentences involved in armed robbery convictions may be increased by ten years when there is a gun present during the commission of the crime.
Armed robbery charges may include weapons other than guns. For example, individuals that committed armed robbery using a knife may receive a lesser sentence than an individual that is charged with using a gun.
In general, armed robbery is a felony which receives a sentence of at least ten years, with time added for the presence of a gun or for past convictions. In fact, some jurisdictions will give a sentence of life in prison if a person has been convicted of two prior felonies regardless of what those felonies were.
